Chiropractors work with removing interference from the nervous system which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and spinal nerves. This interference is commonly caused by 2 or more vertebrae of the spine becoming misaligned and irritating the nervous system. Chiropractors go to school for years of specialzed of training to learn how to detect and correct abnormalities between the spine and the nervous system commonly referred to as vertebral subluxations. Vertebral subluxations occur when spinal vertebrae become misaligned and impinge the nerves which come off the spinal cord to controll the muscles, organs, cells, and glands of the body.
After locating these vertebral subluxations, the chiropractor then works to remove the misalignment of the vertebrae and thus remove the interference from the nervous sysytem so the body can heal itself. There are many varied techniques used by Chiropractors to find and correct these vertebral subluxations.
Often these vertebral subluxations are painless, sometimes for years before any pain or symptom will manifest. Just like a tooth that may degenerate for years before the cavity gets to a point where you have a toothache, so it is with the vertebral subluxations and pain. The earlier these vertebral subluxations are detected , the esaier they can be corrected, ( think about tooth decay as an example, the sooner you find out about it the easier it is to correct [ a filling verses a root canal] ).
A Chiropractors goals usually include a focus on early detection and prevention of vertebral subluxations; to help achieve these goals, Chirooractors often stress the need for the WHOLE family to be checked as well as ongoing periodic maintenance to keep the spine fine tuned and working optimally.
